Parish Mission Statement The Parish of St Judes, Swansea sees its mission as: "Promoting the Christian Faith within the community of Mount Pleasant and faithfully servcing the spiritual and pastoral needs of its people. Furthermore we will endeavour to promote the Gospel in partnership with other churches within the deanery of Swansea and ecumenically with our neighbours from other denominations. The worship and faith of St. Judes is largely established in the broad tradition of the Anglican Church and we strive to maintain an open and inclusive policy in sharing our faith through Christian ministry in the parish. |
Stop Press Contrary to some reports St Jude's Church is doing fine. We do however have some problems with our building and for the time being this has been declared unsafe, by insurers, due to ingress of water and its affect on the electrical wiring. The building has therefore had to be closed An Electrical survey was carried out on Tuesday 9th December 2008 and as a result it is hoped that work can be started in early January to upgrade the electrics to outdoor standards so that water entering will not be a problem and is expected to take about three weeks. However it may be neccesary to apply for a Faculty (in simple terms this means permission from the diocese) and this could cause some delay in the start date. Watch this space and we will try to keep you updated. Meanwhile, our Sunday morning Eucharist will be held as normal at 10am, but in the Terrace Road Presbyterian Church due to the kindness and generousity of our neighbours in allowing us to use their building. We will also be combining with them for a service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday evening 21st December at 6pm and our first Eucharist of Christmas will be held in the Presbyterian church at 7.30 pm on 24th December. There will be a Presbyterian service at 10.30 on Christmas Day where you will be welcome or you will be welcomed at one of the other Anglican churches in the deanery. |
